Description

This course strengthens understanding of the Federal requirements when purchasing under a FEMA award. This EMI certified course offers students a deeper understanding of the federal procurement rules that govern the procurement of good and services under a federal award. This course pairs direct instruction about the federal rules with exercise that allow students to apply their understanding to real-life procurement scenarios and tasks. Participants will leave with a greater confidence and skill in executing contracts for procurement that are compliant with the federal rules. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a certificate and continuing education credits.

There is a 2-step Registration process for this course:

1. Register in STEMS first.
2. Each student will need to complete the DHS-FEMA General Admissions Application and select “L0708 Procurement Under Grants” from the course drop down menu, then select date (9/25) and course location for the Baton Rouge, LA offering.
• In order to register, students must know their FEMA Student Identification (SID) number prior to applying for a course. To obtain one, see FEMA
Student Identification (SID) System (dhs.gov)
• Each student will need to complete the DHS-FEMA General Admissions Application and select “L0708 Procurement Under Grants” from the
course drop down menu.
• Participants will then select the course start date from the dropdown menu (i.e. 09/25).
• NOTE: Students must also describe why they need to take the class.  This section must be completed, or the application will be rejected.
• Each application must be endorsed (approved) by the State Training Officer (STO) as the “Head of Organization”. The STO is: Carmen Smith
