RAPT 2023 Resilience Analysis and Planning Tool Training

This training will focus on providing access to, information about and in-depth training on the RAPT. The RAPT is publicly available and provides actionable, insightful information about community demographics, resilience characteristics and future climate conditions. RAPT provides over 100 pre-loaded datasets of local population demographics, infrastructure, historic hazards, and real-time events in a simple format that non-GIS professionals can use.

In this Louisiana-specific training, attendees will receive background and overview information about RAPT, including information about FEMA’s Community Resilience Challenges Index (CRCI), participate in real-world scenarios and examine how these tools support analysis for all phases of emergency management. Attendees will also receive multiple demonstrations that show how easy-to-use and how powerful these tools are, including toggle on/off data layer lists, filter tools, incident area analysis, the population counter and ways to add in additional data.

Participants are HIGHLY encouraged to bring their laptops, as everyone will have ample time to explore RAPT for their specific jurisdiction. After the presentation and live demonstration, participants will also work though a mini-community profile and disaster event scenario that allows them to use RAPT to examine the impact to their jurisdiction and use various analysis tools in RAPT to answer some situational awareness questions related to a real-world scenario.

This training will engage participants in a real-world emergency management scenario to demonstrate how these complementary, free tools provide a holistic view of community resilience now and in the future while ensuring equity in decision making related to present disasters and future climate change conditions.

SALT- MCTT SALT Mass Casualty Triage Training

Mass casualty triage is a critical skill. Although many systems exist to guide providers in making triage decisions, there is little scientific evidence available to demonstrate that any of the available systems have been validated. Furthermore, in the United States there is little consistency from one jurisdiction to the next in the application of mass casualty triage methodology. There are no nationally standardized categories or color designations.

SALT Triage is the product of a CDC Sponsored working group to propose a standardized triage method. The guideline, entitled SALT (sort, assess, life-saving interventions, treatment and/or transport) triage, was developed based on the best available science and consensus opinion. It incorporates aspects from all of the existing triage systems to create a single overarching guide for unifying the mass casualty triage process across the United States. SALT is compliant with the Model Uniform Core Criteria for Mass Casualty Triage currently contemplated as the proposed national standard for all mass casualty triage systems.
